The Bordentown Township fire district budget election for the $1.5 million Fire District 2 budget will be held Saturday at the Derby Fire House on Crosswicks Road for 2 to 9 p.m.
District 2 is proposing a new fire tax rate of 0.129 cents, an increase of 0.006 cents, Fire Commissioner Stephen Monson said, adding the budget is within the 2 percent cap set by the governor and the Legislature.
This means the owner of a house assessed at $300,000 would pay an additional $18 this year. District 2 has a professional staff of about a dozen firefighters and responded to roughly 800 calls last year, Mr. Monson said.
The Florence Township District 1 election will be at the firehouse at 401 Firehouse Lane, Florence, from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Its $1,732,3338 budget calls for no tax increase, said Fire Chief Kevin Mullen. The amount to be raised by taxes is $1,301,838.
There are four candidates for two three-year terms on the Florence District 1 Board of Fire Commissioners: Harold Houseworth, Arnold C. Miller and incumbents Charles F. Bauer Sr. and Clinton J. Boyd.
